Tishrei - Cheshvan
Soon the Succoth tents will be down, we will have danced around with the Torah and will be looking at the end of the High Holy Day's various celebrations and traditions. It's hard to believe that Adam and Eve were created on the 1st day of Tishrei, and that it was also the first day of sin and repentance.

There is an old expression: 30 days has September... ect.  However, we are in a "complete" year, and so Cheshvan although running through the fall month of October, unlike October has only 30 days in the Jewish calendar.

There are several events that make Cheshvan a unique month as well. For example, King Solomon completed construction of the first temple, the biblical flood began, and on the very same day!

There is a special prayer for the deliverance of dew and rain.

It is also a month in which there are no holidays; almost like a break after a marathon.

Mission Statement of the Jewish Men's Club of Sussex County

Our goal is to grow, strengthen, unify and service the Jewish Community of Sussex County.  Our belief is that by enhancing our community's  ability to study, pray, and enjoy group-leisure activities, we will thereby be enriching all brethren that request or require our assistance.

Membership

Perhaps you are already a devout and religious Jew or perhaps you are not. The nice thing about the Jewish Men's Club of Sussex County is that you needn't be either.

The Jewish Men's Club of Sussex County seeks to help define and enlighten those who want to learn more about what it means to be a Jew.

The JMCSC invites you to gather with other Jewish men in Sussex County at our monthly meetings. The club also sponsors  group trips, sporting events, Torah Scholar study sessions and other interesting and informative programs.

Reflections

All In The Family Although true that there are no Jewish holiday's in the month of Cheshvan, there is cause for great celebration for our Treasurer, Marvin Strauzer. As many of us know, Marvin is very active not only in the JMCSC, but many other Jewish organizations and events as well.

However, this month is particularly special for Marvin as he not only celebrates his birthday, but enjoys his 37th wedding anniversary with his lovely wife Sharon as well.  MAZEL TOV!

Also, club-member Manny Volk has developed a special new idea for the JMCSC.  Manny will be contacting club members shortly with the details of this interesting fundraising effort. Let's all get together to help Manny make this a successful fundraiser.
